I am familiar with McLaughlin infact i'm friends with Souvik Dutta , John's distributor and owner of the record label that produces John's latest CDs.
Abstractlogix. I have signed with them for distribution as well. I have some nice charts on My Foolish Heart if your interested.
I know he's touring soon and he's not stopping here in Forth Worth Texas. I cannot get to the areas he has scheduled. Are you interested in the works of John McLaughlin? If so do you have a transcription of My Foolish Heart?
Hey Jimmy,
You know, I don't really know how I would prepare for a tour. It would definitely be hard for sure. The thing that I think helps me is the fact that I have been in the orchestras at my school playing cello. I see that you play the violin, so you know how much playing in ensembles helps your musical knowledge. I also have the pleasure of being taught by one of the best guitar players in all of Ohio. His name is Shaun Vanek. He is a guitar player for Eternal Legacy and he is a direct student of Neil Zaza. He has really worked hard with me making sure that I know how to play jazz, fusion, and classical so that I can be prepared to play all styles. Ideally, I would love to be in a touring band, and I really wouldn't mind if it was not my own stuff. Thats how you have to get a start after all, by playing in other bands and getting your name known. I will be having my first taste of TOUR this July when I get to play 3 days in Tennessee at a metal fest in Memphis with my dad and uncle in our band Jason And The Fossils. Then later I in the same month I will be venturing out of town again and play in other towns in Ohio and hopefully another festival in Austin, Texas, and possibly Daytona, Florida. So I guess I will have to learn how.
Hey Jimmy-
Yes, that is a healthy amount of delay. I use a Yamaha DG80 1x12 combo amp with built-in effects. It has a really nice (at least to me) tape-echo simulation.
I will look her up too... and Check out the cd's and book... I am not above any effort or expense to perfect my playing... I would love to see Bonnie Raitt play in person... She is one of the very few artists whose songs I will play... I love her blues works and she is one of the few artist that sing in my key (or should I say I sing in her key??? LOL) I enjoy jazz & every other form of music but blues is definately my first love...
I did a little research on Emily, I am so sorry she is not around anymore.. I would have loved to have sen her perform.. She sound like a truely inspiring person... Thanks so much for the push in that direction...
Thank you I will check her out... Google her that is... One of my favorite guitarists & singers, although by far not the best guitarist I know, is Bonnie Raitt... Just her type of music and the feeling she puts into her songs inspires me... I do not know ANY female guitarists personally... or professionally for that matter... Most of the songs I write and perform are blues or have a blues feel... It is too bad there are not more female guitarists.. We seem to be a dying breed... I am extremely lucky though in one respect, I have lots of friends that either play guitar or bass and/or love the blues!! I have great friends!!!!!!
Guitarist and Composer - also a well recorded violinist. Now focusing on guitar with all its beauty and angst. Currently putting together a new band of great bay area musicians to support my two CDs :
Life is Good & Just a Kid Havin Fun. I have had the honor to have played, recorded and performed with great players and extend my experience and music with a free spirit.
Originally from Joisey and the NYC area. Met my first girlfriend at a Temple dance , Debbie Greenberg and decided i could win her with Guitar playing and Comic book art...didn't work out but i got to see Jeff Beck that year and a friend turned me on to Mike Bloomfield and now i'm writing nonsense on the internet. So, i guess it all worked out.
I dig hearing from fellow guitarists all over the place.
Think of me as the Jon Stewart of Funk/Blues with a touch o' Rock
Shalom,
-Jimmy
